Welcome to Wing Tennis Club
Wing Tennis Club is a small club near Leighton Buzzard. It is one of the friendliest and best value clubs around. Why not try it for yourself and come along to social tennis on a Sunday morning. Non-members are welcome to try a few sessions for free before deciding whether to join the club. It's an excellent way to keep yourself fit and healthy and a great way to meet new people.
The club was founded in 1989 and the courts, together with the bowls green, were opened in 1991. The three courts are constructed on the site of the old interwar grass courts that had been abandoned at the start of WWII. Lou Woodward, the last of the grass court champions opened the courts and donated the cup he won in 1939 to the club. During his opening speech Lou complained that modern-day rackets were too strong! The cup he donated is still used today and presented to the winner of the annual club championships.
In 2018, with support from Aylesbury Vale Community Chest, Wing Parish Council and Club funds the courts were resurfaced and new fencing was erected. For 2021 floodlights remain our number one priority and we are part of the village recreation ground project being managed by the Parish Council. This year we are also planning alterations and improvements to the clubhouse.
